An employee of local country radio station 93.7 FM "The Bull" was in surgery Thursday evening after a three-vehicle accident along Interstate 55 near Herculaneum.
The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. The southbound lanes of I-55 were closed for about two hours while investigators worked the scene.
The employee is identified as a former intern who was recently hired in the promotions department.
Executives with Clear Channel radio said a large number of family members were waiting at the hospital for word on the employee's condition. The woman's surgery could last up until 11 p.m. Thursday.
This is the second serious accident involving an employee of that radio station in the last week.
Last Wednesday night, Jennifer Brown, a production assistant, was involved in a fatal accident on Highway 44 and Hampton involving a Porsche sports car.
The driver of the Porsche was killed. Brown, the passenger, remains in critical condition. She is in a medically induced coma with head injuries in the intensive care unit.
