The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died in a Humphreys County car accident that also injured Loretta Lynn's son.

Larry Thomas Claxton, 52, of Hurricane Mills, Tenn., in Humphreys County, died Saturday when the 1974 Jaguar he was riding in ran off Hurricane Mills Road. Claxton died at the scene, said Beth Denton, Safety Department spokeswoman.

Ernest Ray Lynn, 50, son of the country music legend, was driving the car, Denton said. She said Lynn was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, but VUMC spokeswoman Nancy Humphrey said yesterday that she could not confirm that he was at the hospital.

Denton said Lynn was traveling on Hurricane Mills Road near the Loretta Lynn Ranch when he lost control of the car and went off the road about 6 p.m. Saturday.

''According to the troopers, this was a low-speed crash. He swerved for an unknown reason and went off the road,'' Denton said. ''But I don't know any other details surrounding the accident. At this point, it's still under investigation.''
