Royals Reach TV Deal with DirecTV & Dish Network
August 19, 2003
The Royals Sports Television Network (RSTN) and Fox Sports Net (FSN) have announced a distribution agreement enabling FSN's direct broadcast satellite affiliates, DirecTV and Dish Network, to televise Royals games through the 2007 season. As a result of the new agreement, DirecTV and Dish Network satellite subscribers in Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska will see tonight's game against the New York Yankees at Kauffman Stadium on FSN Midwest at 7:05 p.m. Viewers are advised to check local listings for channel locations and availability of Royals telecasts.
RSTN, which was formed in 2003, will continue to work to bring "more games, to more people" by adding those cable and satellite homes in the home television territory that do not currently receive RSTN. Discussions are continuing to expand RSTN satellite and cable coverage in Arkansas, Iowa and Oklahoma.
Fox Sports Net Midwest reaches more than four million cable and satellite television home in six Midwest states, and produces more than 1,600 hours of local programming each year. Nationally, Fox Sports Net reaches more than 79 million homes through its network of 20 regional sports channels.
