This Sunday at Noon, a Kansas City legend will be reborn. After 26 years, 61 Country (610 AM), a National Association of Broadcasters Award Winning Country Station of the Year, moves to it's new home at 106.5 FM. Its new name - COUNTRY 106.5 WDAF-FM, The Country SuperStation. For loyal 61 Country fans, the transition will be easy. "We will simulcast 61 Country on 610 AM and 106.5 FM for an undetermined amount of time," says Bob Zuroweste, Entercom Kansas City Market Manager. "We're thrilled to enhance the quality of Kansas City's number one country music station and bring it to FM, complete with the same great personalities and music."
To make room for the changeover, Entercom's smooth jazz format "The City" will broadcast its farewell song on Sunday at 11:59 a.m. with DJs Michelle Chase and David Washington.
On hand for the passing of the torch will be longtime WDAF morning man, David Lawrence. "After all these years as a successful AM country station, we're looking forward to the move and to making new friends in Kansas City."
